The vinegar eel has a very simple digestive system. Like the other nematodes, it has a moth, pharynx, intestine, rectum, and anus. The vinegar eel is not parasitic like the other nematodes. The vinegar eel feeds on the bacteria from fermented apples or vinegar. The food goes from the mouth to the intestine through the pharynx. The nutrients from the food are absorbed by the intestine. The waste is then stored in the rectum and removed by the anus of the vinegar eel.
