Inchworm Digestive System
The inchworm feeds on dead leaves and bark of trees. Like all annelida's, their digestive system contains a mouth, esophagus, stomach and intestines.
The steps are as followed:
- Consumes leaves and other substances
- Food travels through the esophagus and enters the crop where it is coated with mucus and saliva.
- Next it travels down to the gizzard and gets churned around into a paste.
- After that it moves into the intestines which absorbs all of the nutrients of the food.
- Excess solids are moved to the excretory pores and removed via the anus.
