The digestive process of the American Lobster
The American Lobster had three stomachs that are used in the digestive system. They are the foregut, midgut and hindgut.
1. Food is gripped and consumed by the many mouthes on the bottom of the lobster.
2. The food then goes to the foregut which has teeth that can grind food into small particles.
3. Then, the particles go to the midgut where they are digested and broken down further.
4. After that, only the particles that were too big to be digested, go to the hindgut.
5. Following the hindgut, the food goes through the enlarged rectum.
6. Finally, the waste is emptied out of the anus, located at the tip of the tail.
