Green Finger Sponge Digestive System
Like all sponges, the Green Finger Sponge has an identical system to almost all sponges. The food particles in the water get absorbed into the flagellated chambers by the outside flagellum. The particles and water then get washed around by the tiny little flagellum inside the chambers. And as the food touches the walls of the chambers, they get absorbed and packed into food vacuoles by the color cells. Through this unique and specialized process, the Green Finger Sponge is able to capture, absorb, and digest food even though it is a stationary organism.
